Parks of the Month: Limestone Coast

Limestone Coast

It may have tak­en 26 mil­lion years to cre­ate the Lime­stone Coast, but good things are worth the wait. The region fea­tures pic­turesque port towns, and impres­sive vol­canic craters and moun­tain lakes that have formed over mil­lions of years, such as the Blue Lake at Mount Gambier. Pop­u­lar parks on the Lime­stone Coast include the spec­tac­u­lar World Her­itage-list­ed Nara­coorte Caves Nation­al Park, and the sandy coast and lagoons of Coorong Nation­al Park — a pop­u­lar spot for campers. The JLF Ride

Test your limits, mentally and physically in our 4-day ride across iconic South Australian landscapes. This exclusive event will see a small group of cyclists ride through the picturesque city of Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula. Spanning more than 500km over four days, The JLF Ride 2023 is the ultimate endurance event, all while raising awareness for bowel cancer prevention and early detection.  As this event is not for the faint hearted, it is imperative that your body, mind and equipment can endure such a challenge.

Park Stampede Relay

SARRC ‘Park Stampede’ Relay is a 4 x 5km relay event open to teams of running groups, employees, friends and families. Each team comprises of 4 people and each member runs, jogs or walks a 5km route before passing the baton to their teammate who does the next 5km loop in traditional relay fashion.

XCM O’Halloran Hill

The AMBC Cross Country Marathon (XCM) events are races where duos or solo competitors challenge themselves to complete as many laps of an extended cross country course over a 4 hour period. The winner is the competitor or duo that completes the most laps. Total race time is used to rank riders who complete an equal number of laps. Laps completed after the finish time limit will not be counted.

Conquer the Summit

Adelaide Hills

Conquer the Summit is a fun run event held annually in Mt Barker, in the Adelaide Hills, to raise money for Operation Flinders and other local charities. After leaving the wetlands, competitors follow a combination of roadside, firetrack, vineyard and single-track all the way to the top of Mt Barker Summit.
